The Redmi Note 8 is coming soon: Confirmations and what we know so far

Rumours about the Redmi Note 8 have started doing the rounds already. Recently a couple of Redmi fans asked Redmi’s general manager Lu Weibing if “the Redmi Note 8 is in the works and when we should expect it”. And Weibing replied, though it seems a tad vague.

Weibing confirmd that the Redmi Note 8 is coming soon and the device will be “stronger than the next door”, according to Google Translate at least. It might be an indication towards he fact that Redmi is gearing up to crush its competition with a significant improvement over the Redmi Note 7.

The Redmi Note 8 is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Helio G90 chipset as MediaTek Wireless Communication GM TL Lee had earlier this week revealed that Xiaomi will be the first company to launch a smartphone powered by the new Helio G90 chipset, which is based on a 12nm FinFET design.

The G90 chipset consists of ARM’s Cortex-A55 and Cortex-A76 cores and the graphics are handled by the Mali-G76 GPU. The G90 chipset also supports a single 64-megapixel camera. Redmi had earlier teased that is working on a device with a 64-megapixel camera and this device could be part of the Redmi Note 8 series.

Redmi is expected to make an announcement regarding its 64-megapixel sensor at an event in China on 7 August. We expect the company to also reveal more information about its upcoming Redmi Note 8 series at the event.
